Who me? No, I didn’t buy and pit six kilos of sour cherries a few weeks ago to freeze and make into delicious things all year. Or maybe I did, because my precious apricots won’t make an appearance this year thanks to a tragic frost. We all cope in our own way 😭🍒 #buylocal #buybc #sourcherries

I still dream of a sea salt caramel gelato I had 13 years ago in Saintes, France. I happened to have the exact amount of organic cream for a batch of ice cream in the fridge. We always have farm fresh eggs. So I went down a rabbit hole last Sunday getting the caramel to the edge of burnt (iykyk) and emerged with a quart of ice cream that creates pure happiness in a cone. Three words: Micro. Mini. Eggs. 🐣🐇💐 Yes micro. Can you even? They are about the size of a chocolate chip and I tossed them into my cookie dough yesterday with reckless abandon. Gone are the days of nearly chopping your fingers off to add the regular mini eggs! (I kid, my knife skills aren’t at all bad. I just really hate chopping up those damn delicious regular eggs, which are simply too big to be added whole. IYKYK.) Anyway, I implore you to make a batch of cookies if you can find the micro minis at your local store. I only found them (by chance) at the self checkout of my nearest mega store. Not in the seasonal section with all the other Cadbury treats. That would be too obvious. Not to be found in the regular candy aisle. Foolish idea. They were hidden away on an inconspicuous shelf and I perhaps considered buying the whole box. Common sense prevailed and I only left with a few small bags 😌 #thefeedfeedbaking #microminieggs #eastercookies

Figs are here! Even with the wonky weather this year we still seem to be able to source plenty of locally grown figs. Desert Kings reign supreme on Vancouver Island and they are ripe this week! From farms to people’s backyards, we bought about 10 dozen so far. ⁠I’m making a huge pot of fig jam (already on the stove) and later we’re making some ancho chile fig bbq sauce. ⁠ #desertkingfigs⁠ #figseason #eatprettythings #ediblevanisle What kind of figs grow where you are? 🤔👇
